Starbuck worker in Seattle criticized the company move to close some restaurants via tweet which went viral.
Starbucks announced that they are planning to close some stores located at 505 Union Station in Seattle and 15 other stores citing safety concerns. Some workers and people have criticized the company move, noting that at least three of the 16 Starbuck stores have voted or petitioned to unionize.
Wall Street journal reported, Starbucks set to close, six in Los Angeles, and two in Portland.
A user said “So let me get this straight: Starbucks is closing EIGHT stores in the PNW, citing “crime” as the reasoning. When in actuality, they’re union-busting by shutting down POC and queer-centric locations that are pro-union? I hope Howard likes subpoenas!”
Another User Replied “Howie’s plan is to use Starbuck’s enormous capital to eat fines and lawsuit pay outs while moving ahead with union busting in hopes of killing the movement early. High short term cost for a long pay off. The fines need to be significantly increased to stop that from working.”

Starbuck’s CEO says the company has closed 60 profitable stores due to safety concerns stemming from violence, drug abuse, homelessness, and mental health.
